     AN ACT Relating to medical test sites; and adding a new section to chapter 70.42 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 70.42 RCW to read as follows:

     (1) It is the intent of the legislature that the licensure of medical testing conducted by physicians licensed pursuant to chapters 18.71 and 18.57 RCW in their place of business shall be governed only by the provisions of the clinical laboratory improvement amendments of 1988 P.L. 100-578 and related sections of the code of federal regulations.  Therefore, the provisions of this chapter shall not apply to such medical testing.

     (2) The secretary of health shall monitor the requirements of this section and report to the legislature by December 1, 1992, on the effect of the requirements of this section upon medical testing quality assurance.
