     AN ACT Relating to guide and service dogs; amending RCW 70.84.020 and 70.84.021; and adding a new section to chapter 70.84 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     Sec. 1.  RCW 70.84.020 and 1980 c 109 s 2 are each amended to read as follows:

     For the purpose of this chapter, the term "guide dog" shall mean a dog which is in working harness and is trained, in training, or approved by an accredited school engaged in training dogs for the purpose of guiding blind persons or a dog which is trained, in training, or approved by an accredited school engaged in training dogs for the purpose of assisting hearing impaired persons.

 

     Sec. 2.  RCW 70.84.021 and 1985 c 90 s 1 are each amended to read as follows:

     For the purpose of this chapter, "service dog" means a dog that is trained, in training, or approved by an accredited school, or state institution of higher education, engaged in training dogs for the purposes of assisting or accommodating a physically disabled person related to the person's physical disability.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 70.84 RCW to read as follows:

     Any guide or service dog accompanied by a trainer who is affiliated with an accredited school shall have access to any of the places listed in RCW 70.84.010(3).
