     AN ACT Relating to migrant student records; and adding a new section to chapter 28A.300 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28A.300 RCW to read as follows:

     The superintendent of public instruction may establish, operate, and maintain on behalf of the federal government and other states a national migrant student record transfer system that keeps and shares records about the children of migrant families from throughout the nation.  All funding needed to maintain and operate the migrant student record transfer system shall be from federal sources.
