     AN ACT Relating to airport noise barriers; and adding a new section to chapter 14.08 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 14.08 RCW to read as follows:

     A municipally operated airport shall take reasonable measures to reduce noise from aircraft takeoffs and landings at the airport.  A municipally operated airport with two or more runways capable of handling wide-body passenger and cargo jet aircraft shall install noise deflection barriers on any outer perimeter of the airport that is within one-half mile of any residences.
