Read first time March 5, 1991.Requiring new schools to have automatic fire equipment.


     AN ACT Relating to school construction standards for fire prevention and safety; adding a new section to chapter 48.48 RCW; and providing an effective date.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.48 RCW to read as follows:

     All buildings housing E-1 occupancies, as defined by chapter 19.27 RCW, constructed after the effective date of this act, shall be provided with an automatic fire-extinguishing system designed in accordance with national fire protection standards and approved by the director of community development, through the director of fire protection.  This section shall not apply if the building's construction permit was applied for before the effective date of this act.

 

     NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 1992.
