AN ACT Relating to municipal courts; adding a new section to chapter 3.46 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 3.50 RCW; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 3.46 RCW to read as follows:
On and after the effective date of this act, no municipal department of the district court may be established pursuant to this chapter. Any municipal department established under this chapter after January 1, 1993, but before the effective date of this act, is terminated whether or not the city that created the municipal department has proceeded in accordance with RCW 3.46.150.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. A new section is added to chapter 3.50 RCW to read as follows:
On and after the effective date of this act, no municipal court may be established pursuant to this chapter. Any municipal court established under this chapter after January 1, 1993, but before the effective date of this act, is terminated whether or not the city that created the municipal court has proceeded in accordance with RCW 3.50.060.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 3. This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
