Providing for a performing arts center in Enumclaw.


          AN ACT Relating to a performing arts center for Enumclaw; creating a new section; making an appropriation; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The legislature intends to make funding available for the town of Enumclaw and the Enumclaw school district to join together to provide a performing arts center for both the community and the schools to use.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  The sum of seven hundred fifty thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1995, from the common school construction account to the state board of education for the purposes of constructing a performing arts center in Enumclaw.  The appropriation in this section is available for the period from July 1, 1993, through October 1, 1994, and may not be expended until:

          (1) Seven hundred fifty thousand dollars for the project is provided by King county;

          (2) At least fifty thousand dollars is provided by private companies; and

          (3) There is a successful local bond issue that provides the balance of the funding needed for the project.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
