Prohibiting the delivery of pistols to certain persons not eligible to own or possess pistols.



    AN ACT Relating to delivery of pistols; amending RCW 9.41.080; and prescribing penalties.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 9.41.080 and 1935 c 172 s 8 are each amended to read as follows:

    Except as permitted under RCW 9.41.240, no person ((shall)) may deliver a pistol to any person ((under the age of twenty-one or to one)) who he or she has reasonable cause to believe ((has been convicted of a crime of violence, or is a drug addict, an habitual drunkard, or of unsound mind)) is:  (1) Under the age of twenty-one; (2) under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug; or (3) ineligible under RCW 9.41.040 to own or possess a pistol.  Any person violating this section is guilty of a class C felony, punishable under chapter 9A.20 RCW.
