Increasing the reward for information regarding certain violations.



    AN ACT Relating to rewards for information regarding public lands and natural resource violations; and amending RCW 79.01.765.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 79.01.765 and 1990 c 163 s 8 are each amended to read as follows:

    The department of natural resources is authorized to offer and pay a reward not to exceed ((one)) ten thousand dollars in each case for information regarding violations of any statute or rule ((adopted pursuant to any statute)) relating to the state's public lands and natural resources ((including, but not limited to, Titles 75, 76, 78, and 79 RCW, and any rule adopted pursuant thereto)) on those lands, except forest practices under chapter 76.09 RCW.  No reward may be paid to any federal, state, or local government or agency employees for information obtained by them in the normal course of their employment.  The department of natural resources is authorized to ((promulgate)) adopt rules in pursuit of its authority under this section to determine the appropriate account or fund from which to pay the reward.  The department is also authorized to adopt rules establishing the criteria for paying a reward and the amount to be paid.  No appropriation shall be required for disbursement.
