Requiring fishing license stamps for trout and warmwater fishing licenses.



    AN ACT Relating to game fish license fees; adding a new section to chapter 77.32 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 77.12 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 77.32 RCW to read as follows:

    A person purchasing a fishing license shall indicate on the license at the time of purchase whether the license will be valid for warmwater fish or for trout.  The license will only be valid for the species indicated.  If the person indicates warmwater fish, three dollars of the license fee shall be deposited into the warmwater fish account.  If the person indicates trout, three dollars of the license fee shall be deposited into the trout account.  A person may also purchase a license stamp for either trout or warmwater fish, which validates the license for the species indicated on the stamp.  The fee for the stamp is three dollars.  Stamp fees for trout stamps shall be deposited in the trout account.  Stamp fees for warmwater fish shall be deposited in the warmwater fish account.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 77.12 RCW to read as follows:

    The warmwater fish account and the trout account are each created within the state wildlife fund.  Three dollars of every fishing license purchased under RCW 77.32.101 shall be deposited into the account indicated by the licensee pursuant to section 1 of this act.  Moneys in the warmwater fish account may only be used to fund department programs related to bass, walleye, sunfish, crappie, catfish, and other warmwater species.  Moneys in the trout account may only be used to fund department programs related to trout and kokanee.
