Making a violation of the immigration assistance act a violation of the state consumer protection act.



    AN ACT Relating to immigration assistants; and adding new sections to chapter 19.154 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The regulation of immigration assistants is a matter affecting the public interest for the purpose of applying chapter 19.86 RCW.  Activities of immigration assistants prohibited under this chapter are not reasonable in relation to the development and preservation of business.  A violation of this chapter constitutes an unfair or deceptive act or practice in trade or commerce for the purposes of applying the consumer protection act, chapter 19.86 RCW.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  Individuals practicing under this chapter are required to possess a surety bond in the amount of ten thousand dollars, and errors and omissions malpractice insurance in the amount of at least one hundred thousand dollars.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  Sections 1 and 2 of this act are each added to chapter 19.154 RCW.
