Examining means to improve weed control.



    AN ACT Relating to weed control; and creating new sections.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The commissioner of public lands, in consultation with the department of fish and wildlife and the state parks and recreation commission, shall examine means of improving noxious weed control activities on the public lands managed by the department of natural resources, the department of fish and wildlife, and the parks and recreation commission.  By November 15, 1994, the commissioner shall report to the legislature on means of:  Establishing noxious weed control activities on those public lands that satisfy the standards for weed control required for private lands located in the vicinity of those public lands; providing for noxious weed control assessments, or their equivalent, for those public lands; and ensuring the cooperation of the department of natural resources, the department of fish and wildlife, and the parks and recreation commission with county noxious weed control boards in the collection and disbursement of assessments for the control of noxious weeds.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  The director of the department of agriculture and the state noxious weed control board shall examine means of improving the notification made to owners of nonagricultural lands, and of providing such notification to prospective buyers of such lands, regarding the extent of any noxious weed control problems existing on such lands.  By November 15, 1994, the director and the board shall identify in a report to the legislature mechanisms for improving and providing such notification.
