Prohibiting discrimination by certain health practices against health practitioners regulated under chapter 18.130 RCW.



    AN ACT Relating to discriminatory practices against health care practitioners; adding a new section to chapter 48.46 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 18.100 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 18.130 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 70.41 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.46 RCW to read as follows:

    A health maintenance organization that provides health care services to the general public may not discriminate against a qualified health care professional who has applied to practice with the health maintenance organization, solely on the basis of the person's training.  "Health care professional" for the purpose of this section means those persons regulated by the department of health under chapters 18.36A, 18.57, 18.57A, 18.71, 18.71A, and 18.88 RCW.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 18.100 RCW to read as follows:

    A professional service corporation that provides health care services to the general public may not discriminate against a qualified health care professional who has applied to practice with the professional service corporation, solely on the basis of the person's training.  "Health care professional" for the purpose of this section means those persons regulated by the department of health under chapters 18.36A, 18.57, 18.57A, 18.71, 18.71A, and 18.88 RCW.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 18.130 RCW to read as follows:

    A health care professional regulated under this chapter and engaged in private professional practice that provides health care services to the general public may not discriminate against a qualified health care professional who has applied to practice with the professional, solely on the basis of the person's training.  "Health care professional" for the purpose of this section means those persons regulated by the department of health under chapters 18.36A, 18.57, 18.57A, 18.71, 18.71A, and 18.88 RCW.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 4.  A new section is added to chapter 70.41 RCW to read as follows:

    A hospital that provides health care services through a clinic to the general public may not discriminate against a qualified health care professional who has applied to practice with the clinic, solely on the basis of the person's training.  "Health care professional" for the purpose of this section means those persons regulated by the department of health under chapters 18.36A, 18.57, 18.57A, 18.71, 18.71A, and 18.88 RCW.
