Making reciprocal licensure of Washington dentists by the home state of the applicant a condition for licensure of out-of-state dentists.



    AN ACT Relating to dental licensure reciprocity; and amending RCW 18.32.215.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 18.32.215 and 1989 c 202 s 30 are each amended to read as follows:

    An applicant holding a valid license and currently engaged in practice in another state may be granted a license without examination required by this chapter, on the payment of any required fees, if the board determines that the other state's licensing standards are substantively equivalent to the standards in this state, and finds that the other state either has entered into a reciprocal protocol with the board for licensing Washington dentists under substantively similar conditions, or otherwise provides by law for the licensing of out-of-state dentists without examination by endorsement or credentials:  PROVIDED, That the board may require the applicant to:  (1) File with the board documentation certifying the applicant is licensed to practice in another state; and (2) provide information as the board deems necessary pertaining to the conditions and criteria of the uniform disciplinary act, chapter 18.130 RCW and to demonstrate to the board a knowledge of Washington law pertaining to the practice of dentistry.
