Requiring a study of fiscal efficiency of small school districts.



    AN ACT Relating to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of small school districts; and creating a new section.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The legislative budget committee, in conjunction with the superintendent of public instruction and the state board of education, shall study the efficiency and effectiveness of small school districts to determine how increased fiscal efficiency may be achieved while maintaining a quality education program for students.  The study shall focus on school districts that will receive from the state for the 1992-93 school year in excess of six thousand dollars per pupil for general apportionment.  The study, with recommendations, shall be provided to the senate and house of representatives education and fiscal committees by December 15, 1994.
