Requiring a study to improve the evaluation of education programs.



    AN ACT Relating to the evaluation of school programs; and creating a new section.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  (1) The legislative budget committee, in conjunction with the superintendent of public instruction, school districts, and the state auditor, shall develop recommendations for improving the evaluation of the effectiveness of education programs in the public school system.  The recommendations shall address improving the evaluation of state-wide education programs and education programs conducted by school districts.  The recommendations shall include specific strategies, including legislative action, that will increase the current level and usefulness of program evaluation in all components of the public school system.

    (2) The recommendations required under subsection (1) of this section shall be submitted to the house of representatives and senate education and fiscal committees by December 15, 1994.
