Maintaining the U.S.S. Fir.



    AN ACT Relating to making capital appropriations for the Fir maritime center; creating a new section; and making an appropriation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The legislature finds that the U.S.S. Fir has been designated as a national historic landmark and that the Fir maritime center provides valuable education and training opportunities for children and at-risk youth.  The legislature also finds that maintaining and upgrading the ship will preserve and enhance these education and training opportunities for both current and future generations.

 

    NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  The sum of fifty thousand dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1995, from the state building construction account to the department of community, trade, and economic development for the purpose of preserving and restoring the U.S.S. Fir and constructing interpretive displays at the Fir maritime center.
