Prioritizing preservation, maintenance, and capacity improvement projects on highways by the department of transportation.

    AN ACT Relating to department of transportation highway construction procedures; and adding a new section to chapter 47.05 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 47.05 RCW to read as follows:

    In order to ensure the expeditious and efficient delivery of all preservation, maintenance, and capacity improvement projects within a given region, the department shall coordinate the delivery of all preservation, maintenance, and capacity improvements within a designated region.  The criteria developed for the prioritization of capacity improvement projects shall include consideration of maintenance and preservation projects planned within the same region.
