BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 43.43 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) The state patrol is responsible for the investigation of all suspected criminal activity that may occur against agencies of the state of Washington.

          (3) Once a year the chief of the state patrol and the director of financial management shall jointly determine an amount that the state patrol may assess other state agencies for services provided under this section.  An agency's individual assessment is based on the number of full-time employees the agency is authorized to employ in the forthcoming fiscal year.
