Disclaiming the requirement of gasoline vapor recovery devices.



          AN ACT Relating to gasoline vapor recovery at service stations and other dispensing facilities; adding a new section to chapter 70.94 RCW; creating a new section; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  The legislature finds that the use of gasoline vapor recovery devices at service stations and other public dispensing facilities endangers the health and safety of Washington citizens and should not be required by the state or any air pollution control authority.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 70.94 RCW to read as follows:

          A gasoline vapor recovery device that captures vapors during vehicle fueling is not required at a service station and at any other gasoline dispensing facility that supplies fuel to the general public.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
