Authorizing institutions of higher education to contract for services customarily provided by classified employees.

    AN ACT Relating to institutions of higher education; and adding a new section to chapter 41.06 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.06 RCW to read as follows:

    An institution of higher education may purchase services customarily and historically provided by employees in classified service under this chapter by contracting with individuals or business entities, without the necessity of showing that classified employees could not provide these services, if the purchases would be fiscally prudent and result in reduced expenditures of public funds.
