Clarifying the authority of school districts to enter into indemnification agreements with other governmental agencies.



    AN ACT Relating to school districts; and amending RCW 28A.320.010.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 28A.320.010 and 1969 ex.s. c 223 s 28A.58.010 are each amended to read as follows:

    A school district shall constitute a body corporate and shall possess all the usual powers of a public corporation, and in that name and style may sue and be sued and transact all business necessary for maintaining school and protecting the rights of the district, and enter into such obligations as are authorized therefor by law, including without limitation contracts to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless other governmental agencies with whom the district has contracted in the course of transacting such business.
