Determining the number of district court judges.



    AN ACT Relating to the number of district court judges; and amending RCW 3.34.010.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

    Sec. 1.  RCW 3.34.010 and 1991 c 354 s 1 are each amended to read as follows:

    The number of district judges to be elected in each county shall be:  Adams, ((three)) two; Asotin, one; Benton, two; Chelan, ((one)) two; Clallam, ((one)) two; Clark, ((four)) five; Columbia, one; Cowlitz, two; Douglas, ((one)) two; Ferry, ((two)) one; Franklin, one; Garfield, one; Grant, ((one)) two; Grays Harbor, two; Island, ((three)) one; Jefferson, one; King, twenty-six; Kitsap, ((two)) three; Kittitas, two; Klickitat, two; Lewis, two; Lincoln, one; Mason, one; Okanogan, two; Pacific, two; Pend Oreille, ((two)) one; Pierce, eleven; San Juan, one; Skagit, ((three)) two; Skamania, one; Snohomish, ((eight)) seven; Spokane, nine; Stevens, ((two)) one; Thurston, ((one)) two; Wahkiakum, one; Walla Walla, ((three)) two; Whatcom, two; Whitman, ((two)) one; Yakima, ((six:  PROVIDED, That)) four.  This number may be increased ((in accordance with a resolution of the county commissioners under)) only as provided in RCW 3.34.020.
