SB 5160 - DIGEST

     Revises provisions which prohibit the unlawful possession of firearms to include semiautomatic firearms.

     Includes semiautomatic firearms in licensing and regulation requirements.

     Provides a division formula for the proceeds from the sale of surplus firearms.

     Requires the enactment of an ordinance for local governments to destroy firearms.

     Restricts the possession of firearms in courtrooms.

     Requires enhanced safety precautions where children have access to firearms and makes violations a criminal offense.

     Restricts the possession of firearms in buildings on the west state capitol campus grounds.

     Authorizes a police officer to arrest a person where the officer has reason to believe a violation of RCW 9.41.280 has occurred.
