SB 6519 - DIGEST

     Concludes that efficiencies necessary to implement the spirit of Initiative 601 should be made in areas other than critical education programs.

     Appropriates $72,303,000 from the general fund for allocation to the school districts to provide an average salary increase of three percent to school staff.

     Directs the office of financial management to make across-the-board reductions in state general fund allotments to all agencies and institutions for furnishings, equipment, travel, goods and services, and other support costs to achieve the savings necessary to fund the appropriation.

     Increases the appropriation for the state board for community and technical colleges to provide for salary increases for faculty.
