     On page 1, line 14 strike "1996" and insert "1997"

     On page 2, line 5 strike "1997" and insert "1998"

     On page 3, line 5 strike "2001" and insert "2002"

EFFECT:  Wholesalers of studs used in snow tires have until January 1, 1997 before only light-weight studs can be sold in Washington.  Retailers are similarly given an additional year before lightweight studs are required (until 1998).  Lightweight studs for drivers are not mandated until 2002.
