Title:  An act relating to county hospitals.

 

Brief Description:  Concerning a county hospital board of trustees.

Background:  Counties have the authority to establish hospitals.  If they do cause a hospital to be built, within 30 days after the building is completed and ready for operation, the county legislative authority shall appoint 13 trustees, staggering their terms until their successors are appointed for four-year terms.

 

Summary of Bill:  The number of trustees is increased to 19.  The county executive appoints the 13 persons nominated by the county legislative authority.

 

The county executive nominates and appoints four persons as trustees.

 

The Governor nominates and the county executive appoints two persons as trustees.

 

Each of the 19 is subject to confirmation by the county legislative authority.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
