HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 95-4607, by Representatives Padden and Dellwo

 

      WHEREAS, It is the policy of the Washington State Legislature to recognize excellence in all fields of endeavor; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. exhibited the highest levels of excellence throughout his personal, professional, and public life; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. was the epitome of a well-rounded and dedicated family man, community leader, public official, and attorney; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. was a lifelong resident of Spokane, Washington, born June 9, 1931, attending St. Aloysius Grade School, Gonzaga Preparatory School, Gonzaga University, and Gonzaga University School of Law, graduating in 1955; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. provided exemplary service and representation to his clients as a trial attorney from 1957 through 1985; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. served with honor and distinction as a member of the judiciary on the District Court bench, being first appointed to the Court in December 1985 and being reelected three times thereafter; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. provided exemplary leadership and service in many activities and organizations throughout the Spokane community and Washington State, including the Washington District and Municipal Court Judges Association, American Judges Association, Spokane County Bar Association, Washington State Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, serving as Republican State Committeeman for Spokane County, as well as being a member of the Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for 31 years; and

      WHEREAS, Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. leaves his legacy of commitment, excellence, and service to his wife, Kathy Tanksley, daughter and son-in-law, Clarie and Harry Estep, two sons and daughter-in-law, Michael Tanksley and Edward and Hiroko Nozawa-Tanksley, a daughter, Ann-Marie Tanksley, and two brothers, Robert J. Tanksley and William R. Tanksley;

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the state of Washington now hereby honor Raymond R. Tanksley Jr. and extend the sincerest wishes and condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues; and

      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to Kathy Tanksley.
