Background:  Children who do not live in a stable home environment face many challenges in the public school system.

 

Summary of Bill:  The Department of Social and Health Services will establish a pilot project that establishes an education specialist to coordinate information and services for transient children attending school.  The project will cover homeless children, migrant children, and foster children.  The project will seek to minimize the educational disruption faced by transient children.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  None.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
