Brief Description:  Granting the department of information services the authority to provide services to nonprofit organizations.

Background: 

 

The Department of Information Services (DIS) manages the state's computing and telecommunications facilities.  The DIS currently offers information technology services to state agencies and local governments.  These services include selection of technologies (computer systems) and telecommunications services, equipment acquisition, facilities management, negotiation with cable companies, office automation services, and training. 

 

Summary of Bill: 

 

Public benefit nonprofit corporations are expressly included as eligible recipients of the DIS services.  Eligible public benefit nonprofit corporations are those that receive local, state, or federal funds.
