Background: Automobile insurance is regulated by state statute and through the Office of the Insurance Commissioner.  Statutes and agency rules include provisions relating to premiums charged and policy forms used by the insurance industry.

 

Motorcycles are exempt from the mandatory automobile liability insurance provisions in statute. 

 

Summary of Bill: An insurance company that provides a premium discount for insuring multiple vehicles must include an insured motorcycle as a vehicle receiving the discount.

Effective Date: Ninety days after the session in which the bill passes.
