Background: 

 

The Korean War began on Sunday, June 25, 1950, when the North Korean Army attacked South Korea.  A cease fire was signed three years and over five million casualties later.

 

 

Summary of Bill: 

 

The Washington State Senate and House of Representatives encourage communities nation-wide to hold public recognition programs commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Korean War.

 

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

 

Testimony For:  War is awful; we should honor sacrifices.  This is all about the sacrifices of our veterans.
