CThe Washington State Legislature request that the years 2000 and 2003 be designated as the 50th anniversaries of the beginning and end of the Korean War to honor all veterans of this nation and its allies who secured the legacy of sacrifice for peace and freedom for future generations throughout the world.

The Korean War began on Sunday, June 25, 1950, when the North Korean Army attacked South Korea.  A cease fire was signed three years and over five million casualties later.

 

Summary:

 

The Washington State Senate and House of Representatives request Governor Locke to designate the years 2000 and 2003 as the 50th anniversaries of the beginning and end of the Korean War to honor all veterans of this nation and its allies who secured the legacy of sacrifice for peace and freedom for future generations throughout the world.
