Title:  An act relating to the state conservation commission.

 

Brief Description:  Modifying the voting powers of certain members of the state conservation commission.

Background:  In 1987 the State Conservation Commission replaced the State Soil and Water Conservation Commission.  The current commission has ten members, five of whom are ex officio (by virtue of their office) members.

 

Summary of Bill:  Voting status of committee members is clarified.  The president of the Washington Association of Conservation Districts is designated as a voting ex officio member of the committee.  The directors of the departments of Ecology and Agriculture, the Commissioner of Public Lands, and the Dean of Agriculture at Washington State University are designated as nonvoting ex officio members.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
