Background:  "Washington My Home," composed by Helen Davis, is designated as the official song of the state of Washington.  "Roll on Columbia, Roll On," composed by Woody Guthrie, is designated as the official folk song of the state of Washington.  Although Washington celebrated its centennial in 1989, it does not have an official centennial song.

 

Summary of Bill:  The song, music, and lyrics, "Washington My Homeland," composed by Cary J. Sand, is designated as the official centennial song of the state of Washington.

 

Appropriation:  None.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
