Title:  An act relating to voter registration at institutions of higher education.

Background:  Currently, Washington law provides voter registration services at a number of state agencies such as the Department of Licensing.  Some believe that expanding the service sites for voter registration will result in more registered voters in the state.

 

Summary of Bill:  Voter registration services are expanded to allow individuals to register to vote at the office of enrollment in each institution of higher education.  The Secretary of State must provide standard registration forms to the institutions and notice to the public that the service is available.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on February 19, 1999.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
