Background:  In 1998, the Legislature commenced a continuing process to eliminate obsolete or unwanted reports to the Legislature.

Summary of Bill:  Various statutes are amended or repealed to eliminate reports to the Legislature that are no longer wanted or considered necessary.

Appropriation:  None.

Fiscal Note:  Not requested.

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Testimony For:  This is a continuing effort on the part of OFM and the Legislature to save resources by eliminating either obsolete or unwanted reports.

House Amendment(s):  The ongoing requirement for reports on the adoption of rules by state agencies, and on debts written off by the Department of Social and Health Services, are not eliminated.  Budget documents still must display enrollment target levels for institutions of higher education.
