HB 2467 - DIGEST

 

     Declares that "rural counties" means counties with population densities of less than one hundred persons per square mile as determined by the office of financial management and published each year by the department for the period from July 1st to June 30th.

     Declares that "small-scale business" means any business entity, including a sole proprietorship, corporation, partnership, or other legal entity, that is owned and operated independently from all other businesses, that has the purpose of making a profit, and that has fifty or fewer employees.

     Provides that rural counties may allow the expansion of small-scale businesses as long as those small-scale businesses conform with the rural character of the area. Rural counties may also allow new businesses to utilize sites previously occupied by an existing business as long as the new business conforms to the rural character of the area.
