     Revises provisions regulating physical therapist assistants.

     Directs the board to waive the examination and grant a license to a person who is practicing as a physical therapist assistant in this state on the effective date of this act, if the board determines that the person meets commonly accepted standards for practicing as a physical therapist assistant, as established by rule.

     Requires persons eligible for licensure as a physical therapist assistant under this act to apply for a license under RCW 18.74.040 before December 1, 2000.

     Requires an applicant for a license as a physical therapist assistant to have the following minimum qualifications:  (1) Be of good moral character;

     (2) be a graduate of a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by an agency approved by the board; and

     (3) have successfully passed the national examination approved by the board.
