Brief Description:  Authorizing the department of social and health services to establish licensing fees for adult family homes.

Brief Summary of Bill

$Authorizes the Department of Social and Health Services to establish adult family home licensing fees by rule at an amount adequate to reimburse the department in full for all costs of its licensing activities.

Background:

 

There are 2,200 adult family homes in Washington providing long‑term care services to approximately 3,300 Medicaid clients.  Adult family homes provide personal care, special care, room, and board to between two and six adults who are not related by blood or by marriage to the person or persons providing the services.

 

Licensing fees for adult family homes are established under statute at $50.00 per facility per year.

 

Summary of Bill:

 

The Department of Social and Health Services must establish adult family home licensing fees by rule at an amount adequate to reimburse the department in full for all costs of its licensing activities.

 

Appropriation:  None.

 

Fiscal Note:  Requested on January 17, 2002.

 

Effective Date:  Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
