   Strike everything after the enacting clause and insert the following:

   "NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. The legislature finds that the use of automated traffic safety cameras remains controversial. The legislature further finds that it is necessary to obtain further information and input prior to encouraging local governments to use these cameras to monitor traffic infractions. Therefore, the legislature directs the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee together with the House Transportation Committee to conduct an interim study on this issue. The study shall at least include input from citizens, local governments, the transportation commission, and any other experts with information that the committee deems to be relevant."

   Renumber the sections consecutively and correct any internal references accordingly.
