Background: District court clerks collect fees for a variety of official services including: filing of a civil action ($31); issuing a writ of garnishment ($6); filing a supplemental proceeding ($12); demanding a jury in a civil case ($50); preparing a transcript of a judgment ($6); certifying a document ($5); preparing the record of a case for appeal ($40); duplication of tapes ($10 per tape); and filing of a small claims action ($10).

 

Summary of Bill: District court clerks collect a $15 fee for revising or correcting a civil action complaint filed or transferred to district court. District court clerks also collect a $15 fee for revising or correcting a claim filed in the small claims department of the district court.

 

Appropriation: None.

 

Fiscal Note: Not requested.

 

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
