Title: An act relating to youth fishing.

 

Brief Description: Changing the definition of a "youth" fisher to mean a person under eighteen years old.

Background: Any person 15 years of age or older must purchase a license to take fish or shellfish in state or offshore waters. Youth, defined as a person 15 years of age, receive a discounted combination fishing license. People 16 and older pay the fee for an adult license.

 

Summary of Bill: The age at which a license is required for a personal use fishing license or shellfish license is raised from 15 to 18.

 

Appropriation: None.

 

Fiscal Note: Requested on January 16, 2004.

 

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
