   On page 25, line 18, decrease the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2009 by $126,000.

 

   On page 26, line 24, correct the total.

 

   On page 41, beginning on line 19, strike subsection 63.

 

   Renumber remaining subsections consecutively and correct internal references accordingly.

 

   On page 199, line 13, increase the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2009 by $126,000

 

   On page 199, line 16, correct the total.

 

   On page 206, after line 22, insert the following:

   "(xxi) $126,000 of the general fund-state appropriation for fiscal year 2009 is provided solely for the office of the superintendent of public instruction to contract with a national organization to establish, maintain, and operate an endowment for the promotion of geography education in Washington state. The national organization must have experience operating geography education endowments in other states and must provide equal nonstate matching funds to the state funds provided in the contract. All funds in and any interest earned on the endowment shall be used exclusively for geography education programs. The national organization must have an established affiliated advisory committee in the state to recommend local projects to be funded by the endowment. The contract shall require that the organization report annually to the superintendent on the recipients of endowment funds and the amounts and purposes of expenditures from the fund."

 

 

 

 

EFFECT: Removes funding ($126,000 GF-S) for Second Substitute House Bill 2683 (affordable housing for all). Provides $126,000 GF-S for a geography education endowment through the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

 

FISCAL IMPACT: No net change to appropriated levels.
