   On page 27, line 10, after "custody" insert ", including escapees and absconders,"

   On page 27, line 12, after "custody" insert ", including escapees and absconders,"

   On page 27, after line 20, insert the following:

   "NEW SECTION. Sec. 409. A new section is added to chapter 72.09 RCW to read as follows:

   The department shall allow community custody officers, based on the officer's professional determination and discretion, to perform random, unannounced inspections of the person, residence, automobile, or other personal property of every offender, including escapees and absconders, under the department's supervision pursuant to a term of community custody imposed for a crime committed on or after the effective date of this act."

   Renumber the sections consecutively and correct the internal references accordingly.

EFFECT: Requires DOC to allow Community Corrections Officers (CCOs) to conduct random, unannounced inspections of an offender who is under the DOC's supervision for an offense committed on or after the effective date of the act, including escapees and absconders, based on the CCOs' professional determination.
