On page 23, beginning on line 22 of the amendment, strike all of
subsections (a) and (b) and insert the following:
"(a) Except as provided in this subsection, four members shall be
certified HVAC/R mechanics, of which at least one, but not more than
two, shall be a certified HVAC/R mechanic performing HVAC/R work east
of the crest of the Cascade mountains. Any members appointed before
July 1, 2010, shall be persons who are eligible to be certified without
examination under section 11 or 12 of this act or to take an
examination for certification under section 14 of this act.
(b) Except as provided in this subsection, four members shall be
HVAC/R contractors, of which at least one, but not more than two, shall
be an HVAC/R contractor doing business east of the crest of the Cascade
mountains. Any members appointed before July 1, 2009, shall be persons
who are engaged in business as HVAC/R contractors and registered as
contractors under chapter 18.27 RCW."
EFFECT: Modifies the membership of the HVAC/R board as follows:
(1) Before July 1, 2009, when HVAC/R contractor registration
requirements apply, members are persons engaged in business as HVAC/R
contractors and registered as contractors under the Contractor
Registration Act.
(2) Before July 1, 2010, when HVAC/R mechanic certification
requirements apply, members are persons who are eligible to be
certified without examination or to take the examination for
certification.
