On page 2, line 10, after "subsection." insert "The department shall also include in the procurement of the new vessels a requirement that the contractor comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations including, but not limited to, those pertaining to the environment, worker health and safety, and prevailing wages."
EFFECT: Requires the Washington State Department of Transportation to include in the procurement of new vessels under the act the same language that appears in the procurement statutes for the jumbo ferries and the new 144-car vessels; a requirement that the contractor comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations including, but not limited to, those pertaining to the environment, worker health and safety, and prevailing wages.
