Background:

Owners of farm vehicles where the gross vehicle weight for a combination vehicle that does not exceed 80,000 pounds or 40,000 pounds for a single unit vehicle may operate these vehicles using a trip permit. Each farm vehicle trip permit is authorized for the period that is remaining in the calendar month of license. No more than four permits are allowed for any one vehicle in any 12-month period. The fee for each farm permit is $6.25 and is sold by the Department of Licensing's agents or subagents.

Summary:

A farm trip permit is valid for 30 days starting with day of first use.
