Background:

There are multiple governmental entities in the state that manage open, undeveloped land. These agencies include the Parks and Recreation Commission (State Parks), the Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Summary of Bill:

State Parks, the DFW, and the DNR are provided specific direction to consider the economic development opportunities for any real property controlled by the agencies when deciding how to most advantageously use the property. The economic development opportunities may benefit the agency, the state, or the local community. Economic development considerations must be given when deciding how to manage the land and when and how to dispose of the land.

Appropriation: None.

Fiscal Note: Requested on 1/24/2011.

Effective Date: The bill takes effect 90 days after adjournment of the session in which the bill is passed.
