SB 5338 - DIGEST

Prohibits persons from transporting, moving, or attempting to transport in the state any alien who has entered or remained in the United States in violation of the law.

Requires verification of United States citizenship or status as a legal permanent resident alien before issuance of a driver's license.

Requires a reasonable effort to be made to determine the citizenship status of a confined person charged with a felony or DUI.

Requires state agencies to: (1) Register with and use the e-verify program to verify the work eligibility status of all new employees; and

(2) Verify the lawful presence in the United States of any natural person fourteen years of age or older who has applied for state or local public benefits or federal public benefits.

Revises the definition of "subsidized enrollee" for purposes of the basic health plan, by including a United States citizen and a qualified alien under the federal immigration and nationality act who is lawfully present in the United States.
